Miss Baylea is nine today! School was cancelled due to snow and ice, and she was very happy to take the day off on her special day.

This girl has been such a blessing to have. If you give her instructions, she will follow them to a tee. She is excellent at helping out with her sister and brothers, loves to spend time reading, has a goofy side to her that loves to make you laugh, and has a memory for detail like you wouldn't believe. If I can't find my car keys, the first thing I do is ask Baylea. She'll see me haphazardly leave them somewhere, and tells me where to find them 9 times out of 10.

As far as future plans, as of last year, she wanted to own a drug company because they "make a lot of money." This year, she is leaning toward being a fashion designer. She has a video game she likes to play where she designs clothes and "presents" them to fashion judges.

Happy 9th birthday, Bayles! We love you lots and lots!

Snow, snow, snow

We're getting another 8-12 inches today! This was taken this morning out the back deck. Of course, the kids are off school, so they are thrilled. We're supposed to be getting more snow throughout the day, then some winds to blow it around and create even more fun getting around on the roads.

This winter has seemed to drag on and on, with snow coming every week. I can not wait for spring, green grass, and clear roads.

We took the kids to Major Magic's yesterday as a Valentine's gift to them. I didn't realize Baylea was making such a goofy face when I took the picture!

Molly is all smiles even though she got a hole burned through her thumbnail today! Last week, she slammed her thumb in the car door and it really started to swell over the weekend,so the doctor made a tiny hole in her nail to relieve the pressure. She is a trooper!

I don't even know what to say here. His latest complaint is that school is boring, and his favorite parts are lunch and recess.

Cole ate his whole dinner with his head resting on his hand.

He played this about twenty times.

Hey, it's been awhile since I've posted, for whoever checks this blog. I don't really have that much to report, I guess that's why I've been reluctant to post. Most likely, the winter blues are in full force, I'm grumpy because I'm tired of snow and cold, and it's probably best I don't expose others to my bad attitude. Haha, okay, I already feel a little better.

We had a good weekend. Saturday was another relaxing day, where I got to spend some quality time on the couch, curled up with a book. I can't have peace of mind when there is a book that needs to be finished. Mom gave me the book when I was in Spfd. It's The Innocent Man, by John Grisham, which is a non-fiction account of a man wrongly convicted of murder who spends 12 years on death row before DNA evidence overturns his conviction. It's pretty interesting and harrowing at the same time, just seeing how someone can be convicted of a murder they had nothing to do with. Anyway, I was able to finish the book, then get some housework done.

Church was good too. We had three baptized yesterday. Two of them were from a couple that started coming to church because they were invited by their boss, who got saved last year at Victory. Brett and I took them out to eat a few weeks ago, and led them to the Lord right at the table of the Happy Rose Chinese Buffet! Brett and I joke that we are missionaries called to the restaurants of Toledo, because we have led several people to salvation at the dinner table. Some are called to foreign countries, we are called to local eating establishments, so send your support dollars or Chili's gift certificates so we can continue to minister to those in the area. Haha, just kidding. Anyway, it is exciting to see a couple with no church background become faithful members simply because someone asked them to visit. The husband mentioned that he had noticed such a change in his boss' life over the past year, that he knew he wanted Christ in his life too. Amen! The other one baptized is a young woman from Croatia, but has lived here for the past ten years or so. She has been fun to get to know, and has really shown desire to learn the Bible and serve the Lord. She also is a representative for Estee Lauder, so I have been lucky to get some great products free. (Don't tell Mary Kay.)

Anyway, the kids have been doing well. They all took turns last week with fevers, but everyone is well now. I hope to post some more pictures soon, but I can't find my battery charger to my camera (sorry, Mom.) I know I tucked in a good spot so it wouldn't get lost . . .and I forgot where it is. The girls were off school today for a snow day, but I didn't think the roads were bad at all. I'm sure they appreciated a good four-day weekend, though. They were off Friday for snow, as well.
I'll try not to go as long without posting again.

UPDATE: I found my battery charger -so expect some pictures this week!

Future Entrepreneur?

Photobucket
Connor knew I was keeping his two teeth that had come out in a drawer of mine, for which he already got paid by the tooth fairy. A couple nights ago, I was saying bedtime prayers with him and he showed me that he had put the teeth back under his pillow again. Why? I asked. He said, Maybe the tooth fairy will give me money again!

Progressive Dinner

Last night, our church held a progressive dinner, which had a very nice turnout, considering the weather. We had a little ice and snow, but the wind was blowing hard and whipped your face with stinging gusts. Everyone showed up at the church for appetizers, then split up into three groups. Each group then traveled in a van together to the salad and veggie destination. After that, they went on the the main course destination, where they were served chicken and stuffing. Then, they headed back to church for a short service. Including children (who stayed at the church the whole time), we had around 90 show up. It was a great time of fellowship.

Brett rounds everybody up and assigns them to their group.

Me and my right-hand man, Cole. We hosted the main course for one of the groups.

Greg got the kids to make their funny faces.
